A community project with the Chingari Trust, Bhopal India. The trust was started by two women, Rasheeda Bee and Champa Devi Shukla, for the treatment and welfare of the children born with deformities 33 years after the Bhopal gas tragedy.
The mural was done in collaboration with the children, their parents and the staff of Chingari Trust. I have used traditional Indian embroidery mirrors for the mural. The mirrors, metaphorically, being a reflection of society. Addressing, the apathy of the Government of India towards the life of the poor who live by the periphery of the Union Carbide factory, where the land continues to leak heavy chemicals into the ground water, affecting thousands living in the area.
